Holman Research Group

Innovation in optoelectronic materials and photovoltaic devices

About the group

The Holman Research group is team at Arizona State University led by Professor Zachary Holman (CV) that likes to define and solve engineering problems that are both interesting and important. We are electrical engineers, materials scientists, mechanical engineers, physicists, and chemists and we are passionate about solar cells, coatings, nanotechnology, semiconductors, plasmas, and aerosols.

Our home is within the School of Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering (ECEE) in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering (FSE).

We’re particularly passionate about entrepreneurship and technology commercialization, and are a leader in intellectual property generation and start-up creation. Swift Coat, Sunflex Solar, and Beyond Silicon are three active start-ups founded by our lab.

Facilities

In addition to our own Optical and Electronic Materials Laboratory, we’re heavy users of ASU’s shared facilities, including the Solar Power Laboratory (SPL)NanoFab, and Eyring Materials Center (EMC).

Work With Us

Students, postdocs

We are always on the hunt for excellent students and researchers who want to join our team.

Universities, research institutes

We have collaborations worldwide with partners who share our vision and have complementary expertise and capabilities. These collaborations usually start informally; some are later funded.

Companies

We have companies that are sub-contractors on our funded projects, we are sub-contractors to companies on their funded projects, we provide specific pay-as-you-go services outside of funded projects, and we have informal collaborations in which no funds are exchanged.
